His Partner's Wife (Harlequin Superromance, No. 998)
Published in Paperback by Harlequin (July, 1901)
Author: Janice Kay Johnson
Average review score:

Great Characterizations, Great Read.
Ever since John McLean's partner, Stuart Reed, died, the Fort Dare detective has done whatever he could to help Stuart's widow Natalie. Whether painting her house or telephoning occasionally to make sure she's okay, John has lived by the cop's code: if your partner dies, take care of his family. And always, Natalie has found some way to repay him because she doesn't want to feel obligated to anyone ever again. But suddenly, she finds a body in her study, and she hopes the man coming to the rescue will be John. She finds comfort in his arms, because he's become her friend. However, when he insists she stay at his house, she realizes she might want more than just friendship.

Single dad, John, supports his ex who requires skilled medical care, but even before she became ill, he knew their marriage was unraveling. Now,he'd like to keep Natalie around, but he feels he has no right to lust after his partner's widow, especially when he has domestic obligations himself.

When a second intruder breaks into Natalie's house, John realizes something sinister is going on, and it might involve his late partner. How can he get to the root of the problem without shattering lovely Natalie's belief in her husband? And how can he not lose his heart along the way?

This is the first in a trilogy by Ms. Johnson. Look for high emotional drama, believable characters, and a depth of human feeling in this well-crafted story. I chuckled at an obvious computer terminology glitch (those old beasties are 386s and 486s), but I applauded the otherwise skilled crafting of this engaging read. Highly recommended.

More than devotion or duty -- highly recommended
Years of discussion acclimate her to theoretical details of murder, but still leave Natalie Reed unprepared for gristly reality. When she discovers a body in her study, shock and terror take their toll. Natalie takes comfort that her husband's partner responds to the call and insists on finding her a safe place to stay. As details unfold, Natalie finds she must reevaluate the marriage to that bound her to Stuart Reed for three years. Indeed, Natalie faces, for the first time, the careless cruelty that belied the charm and sexiness her husband usually displayed.

Detective John McLean lives the cop's creed: If your partner dies, take care of his family. In spite of his own responsibilities to two young children and an ex-wife disabled by a crippling disease, John finds the time to paint her house, make repairs, and be available as a friend by phone and email. As the danger to Natalie becomes apparent, John finds himself protecting her with something more than just devotion and duty.

Friendship grows into something more in HIS PARTNER'S WIFE by Janice Kay Johnson. With a powerful hook to kick off the start of the book, and a surprising solution to missing money, this author keeps the pages turning. Emotionally gripping, each reevaluates the man who brought them together. The heroine was married to a good cop gone bad; the hero was his partner. Both find themselves questioning not just the past and the bad cop's influence on their lives, but also their own judgement. The act of reevaluation, however, brings redemption, allowing them to open to possibilities previously unconsidered. The first of a trilogy, HIS PARNTER'S WIFE PARTNER'S highly recommended.

Superb Masterpiece of Modern Literature
No description can sufficiently describe the novel HISTORYTAKES A WILD RIDE. Only divine inspiration would even come close. Irecommend that everyone who reads this buy at least one copy of thebook. At the author's web page, which I am a big fan of, [website],you will find that Mr. Johnson is planning to release several otherworks in the near future. As interested with his first publication asI was, I will surely support any future works that he does release. Iam sad to see that HISTORY TAKES A WILD RIDE did not even go into asecond printing, for I think it will be regarded as a modernmasterpiece by our grandchildren. Thank You.

It was quite a well display of writing and is worth it.
The book was pretty good and written with a child's curiosity and creativity in mind. It is well worth the requested price. I believe amazon.com should stock a good supply of this delightful book.

Honey and the Hired Hand (Silhouette Desire, No 746)
Published in Paperback by Harlequin (November, 1992)
Authors: Joan Johnston and Joan J. Johnson
Average review score:

WOW - WHAT A STORY
This is an early Joan Johnston book. It is just GREAT. Sparks fly between Jesse and Honey. A thoroughly enjoyable romantic story.

A Sure Romantic Pleaser
Although not directly related to the series, this book is a wonderful addition to the "Hawk's Way" series. The characters seem to start off a bit slow, much like the plot. However, once you've started reading this novel, it's hard to put it down. The lead romantic interests, Honey Farrell and Jesse Whitelaw, keep the sparks flying whether they're fighting each other or fighting the temptation of love.

So Cool! This brings my family history to life!
I could not put it down. The first time I read it, I only took an hour. After reading it 3 times I have desided that it is the best book I've read about youth and pioneer times.

This is a wonderfully written book!
I truly loved this book! It is beautifully written. I thank the author for writing such a good book!

How a House Works (Reader's Digest/the Family Handyman)
Published in Paperback by Reader's Digest Adult (May, 1994)
Author: Duane Johnson
Average review score:

This book is a must-read for any home buyer or owner.
This book is a rare blend of the fundamentals of residential construction, expressed in the most friendly language. Duane has an unusual two-fold gift to understand all the technical aspects of our homes and the ability to communicate that expertise in the most approachable manner. It's like having the 60-year wisdom of a construction foreman and a dutch uncle in your back pocket. I have given copies of this fine book to all my nephews and several friends.

An awesome, easy to understand look at a house.
I've looked at a lot of "home" type books and this is the best one that I have seen. It takes a home and explains in the simplest terms, how it works ('wonder where they got the name of the book?). The illustrations are absolutely top notch. Buy this book!

A dessert island? Cool!
To Mr. Ex-navyman: What's a dessert island? Are there parfait trees? Pudding ponds? Candy fish? Where do I get my ticket?

This Ex-navyman would take this book to a dessert island!

This matter in book form gives good accounts of how make do with what you have and at the same time show all the practical ways from dehydrating and starving to death not to mention going completely insane from pure boredom. Yes rowboats and luxury liners do sink as well as aircraft falling out of the sky. Ones ability to effectively take control of the situation and keep all parties alive through clear thinking and good judgement is the key to Survival not only at sea, but even on a waterless dessert island. All the material collect from naval research is founded on actual experineces of those that had to use there whits and enginuity to survive until rescued. A must for the international traveler

How to Win the Three Games of Golf
Published in Hardcover by Pocket Star (August, 1993)
Authors: Hank Johnson, Donna Ruvituso, and Roger Schiffman
Average review score:

One of the most best, most underrated golf instructional boo
An absolutely terrific book for beginners. Johnson's philosophy of learning the setup and swing AWAY from the golf course is, in my opinion, the best way to improve your game. Buy it, buy a couple mirrors, a broom, and you'll see dramatic improvement.

This is the best golf instruction book I have ever read.
I have read MANY golf instructional books and viewed many instructional videos. This book is my favorite golf instructional book by far. It is well-organized, easy to read, and has excellent suggestions for improving your game, the swing, the shot and the score. I highly recommend this book for beginners and advanced players alike.

I Like Being Married: Treasured Traditions, Rituals, and Stories
Published in Digital by Doubleday ()
Authors: Michael Leach and Therese Johnson Borchard
Average review score:

This book helped me really like being married.
Everyday in a marriage brings its own challenges and trials. This book helped me look beyond the petty, ordinary irritating things to the wonderful partner God has provided me. It includes stories about marriage from celebrities and former presidents as well as everyday people. I especially liked the personal stories from the editors. I plan to buy this book for a friend of mine who is engaged and I would recommend it as a gift to any married couple. Marriage isn't just a legal institution or a social status quo - it a a vibrant pairing of two people, spiritually as well as physically, who will encourage each other and support each other through all things and all times.

I Like Being Married
Beautiful book. A must for anyone who has been married, even if for only a short time. Long time married readers will relate to stories/feelings of the contributers and short term married readers will feel inspired. This book takes you to a place reserved only for the love of your life. I found it hard to go through a chapter without reaching over and kissing or touching my husband. This would also make a great anniversary gift.

The pictures and the words describe Londolozi beautifully.
I visited Londolozi in 1997. I ordered and received the book almost a year after I returned home. It captured everything I remember from the animals and the landscape to the wonderful people themselves. I am able to pick up the book, now 2 years later, and still get the same feeling.

captures the experience we had at Londolozi beautifully
After visiting Londolozi and purchasing this book there, it was wonderful to learn about the background and evolution of this very unique game reserve from the founding family. This book is a must for those planning a trip to the "bush" as well as for those fortunates that have been to Londolozi or anywhere to share space with the magnificent animals of the transvaal.
